Selena Gomez and David Henrie return as Alex and Justin Russo for “Wizards,” a sequel to the hit Disney Channel Show “Wizards of Waverly Place”.

On March 22, both Disney Channel and David Henrie posted a photo with a side-by-side shot of Justin and Alex in both the original show and the new revival letting fans know, “Making magic, then and now. The new Wizards of Waverly Place series is coming this fall!”

Gomez also reposted the photo on her Instagram story writing, “Guess what?! WE GOT PICKED UP FOR SEASON 1!”

Henrie and Gomez have taken the lead as an executive producer for the pilot with Henrie’s character being a series regular and Gomez coming on in a guest star role.

The original series followed the Russo family, a family of wizards, as they try to live normal lives (or as normal as you can when magic is involved) while simultaneously training for the family wizard competition where only one of the siblings will be crowned the family wizard and being allowed to keep their powers.

The series will pick up with Justin Russo as he tries to live his life as a mortal with his family. But when his sister Alex brings home a wizard named Billie, Justin goes back to wizardry to mentor the wizard in training.

Some fans were confused to hear that Justin Russo no longer has his powers. At the end of Wizards of Waverly Place, Justin is given back his powers to take over as principal of the Wizard School. What happened between then and now that Justin no longer has his powers? Hopefully, that will be explained when the show comes out in the fall.
