Research Opportunity on Automatic Textbook Billing

Dear students,


We want to invite you to participate in the online survey we created to understand how much money you spent on textbooks this semester, your thoughts on Automatic Textbook Billing, and your regarding an Opt-Out or Opt-In policy.


By Automatic Textbook Billing, we mean that when you register for your classes, you're automatically signed up to rent your books and software packages. The policy charges you based on how many credits you register for, regardless of the total cost of your books and software packages. The policy has a cost of $18.75 per credit. So, if you register for 15 credits, you will automatically see an addition of $281.25 to your tuition bill.


With an “opt-out” policy, students are, without prior agreement, automatically enrolled but can withdraw from the program.


With an “opt-in” policy, students are given the choice to voluntarily enroll or participate in the program.
