Along with the April spring showers come the countless highly anticipated titles of this month. Here are a few of the highlights of this month’s cinema, video games, and streaming services.
Movies
Based off the classic Nintendo games, The Super Mario Bros. Movie will be released on April 5th, starring Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, and Jack Black as Bowser. For horror fans, The Pope’s Exorcist with Russell Crowe will be released on April 14th. Based on Judy Blume’s famous book that has been consistently censored by schools, Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret will be released on April 28th.
Netflix
As for Netflix, Chupa will follow the myth of the chupacabra. The Walking Dead’s Steven Yeun will release on April 6th in Beef. The ten episode series will follow the lives of two strangers after a road rage incident. Transatlantic will follow the stories of those attempting to assist refugees from Nazi occupied France. A movie continuing The Last Kingdom television show will release on April 14th. The final part of Firefly Lane will release on April 27th.
Disney Plus
The last episodes of the second season of The Mandalorian will release this month. Following the best selling novel, The Crossover will follow two basketball loving teen brothers. Journey of the Earth will be released as a television series. For their Earth Day special, Secrets of the Elephants will be released and will be narrated by actress Natalie Portman in a four part series. On April 28th, a remake of the classic JM Barrie story Peter Pan will be released.
HBO Max
Bill Hader’s dark comedy series will release it’s final season. Elizabeth Olsen will be starring in Love and Death, a true-crime limited series. The second season of the indie comedy, Somebody Somewhere on April 23rd.
Prime
Most notable for Amazon Prime is the final season of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
The new television series, Citadel, follows the story of an international spy, starring Richard Madden and Proyanka Chopra.
Video Games
Road 96: Mile 0, Dead Island 2, and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor are a few of the top titles for video game releases.
