December 8th, 2022 - Eastern Warriors Sports Update

Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Men’s and Women's Track and Field kicked off their first meet on December 2nd and 3rd at the Southern Connecticut State University Art Kadish Elm City Challenge. This was Alumni Hall of Famer and head coach David Nicholson's first meet as Eastern’s head coach. The men’s team finished 3rd out of 8 teams and the women’s team finished 4th out of 9 teams. Their next meet will be on January 22nd at Southern Connecticut State University for the William Suthernland III invitational. Men’s and Women’s Swimming Men’s and Women's Swimming had a meet on December 2nd and 3rd where they traveled to Wesleyan University for the Connecticut Cup. Men's swimming came 5th out of 7 teams and women’s swimming came 6th out of 9 teams. Sophomore Joe Sylvester broke the program record when he swam the 1650 freestyle for the first time and Junior Nathan Melia broke his own record in the backstroke not long after. Another record that was broken was the 200 Individual Medley which was broken by Connor Rego. Sophomore Allison Ronan swam two of the fastest backstroke times in program history and sophomore Lindsay Weaver had one of the program’s most impressive performances on the weekend. Their next meet will be at home on Saturday January 14th at 1pm as they take on division rival Keene State.


Men’s Basketball

Men's Basketball traveled to Massachusetts this past week taking on UMass Boston last Saturday and UMass Dartmouth yesterday. Eastern put up a tough fight but came up short 67-58 against UMass Boston and looked to bounce back against UMass Dartmouth.

Unfortunately, that would not be the case for the Warriors as they fell 78-71. This is now the Warriors fifth straight loss as they drop their record to 2-7. They will host their next matchup this Saturday at 3pm in a Little East Conference matchup against Plymouth State.


Women’s Basketball

Women’s Basketball traveled to UMass Boston on December 3rd where they were able to win 54-36. Continuing their winning streak they played UMass Dartmouth last night and won 65-43. They will look to continue their two game winning streak this weekend on Saturday as they host Plymouth State in a Little East Conference matchup at 1pm in the Francis E. Geissler Gymnasium.
